Black Friday mattress deals 2020: Our predictions

Black Friday is an amazing time to pick up a cheap mattress, with pretty much all the big brands and retailers getting involved to offer some kind of price drop, freebie, or discount code. So what can we predict about this year's sales?

Well, first up, the big day this year is 27 November (with Cyber Monday following on 30 November), but we're confident there will be plenty of Black Friday mattress deals going live before that date. Over the past few years, we've been seeing deals across a range of industries going live earlier and earlier, and we'd expect the same thing to happen in 2020.

If we look back over the past few events, we've typically seen brands offering bigger and better Black Friday mattress deals each year. Here are three brands to keep an eye on this year:

Emma mattress
Emma's 2019 Black Friday and Cyber Monday mattress deal chopped a phenomenal 40% off the price of everything sitewide. T3 also ran an exclusive discount that bumped up savings to 41% off. Again, it was a big improvement on the 2018 Black Friday deal (up to 30% off) – so hopefully we'll see more than 40% off this year. Although bear in mind that the award-winning Emma mattress got a permanent price drop this year too.

Nectar Sleep
For Black Friday 2019, UK shoppers could get a £250 discount on their mattress purchase, with two free pillows (worth £70) thrown in. We've seen this deal since, in summer 2020, which suggests we might be in store for a better deal come the end of November.

As a rule, we don’t normally recommend open coil mattresses because they tend to give a less good night’s sleep. Happy Beds’ Super Orthopaedic Open Coil Spring mattress is the exception to the rule though, with almost 1,000 great reviews on Amazon. A thick layer of sturdy reflex foam sits on a strong network of traditional open coil springs, providing a firm level of support that Happy Beds says is “perfect for those seeking orthopaedic assistance”. We’re can’t guarantee this aspect, but it's still easily one of the best cheap mattresses you can buy.
